Meet Snout Moth! They have been waiting patiently at the shelter for their perfect adopter to come along. You are welcome to enter our cat rooms during open hours. Staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you!
Snout Moth is a spirit cat, and if you adopt them, you probably wouldn’t even notice they are in your house if it weren’t for the mysterious overnight disappearance of cat food.
We often can’t predict how a spirit cat will be after they settle in – some become comfortable around their family and choose to spend time with them by sharing the same space or allowing some petting, while others continue to prefer to hide when there’s any commotion. Spirit cats generally prefer to spend their time around other cats and make an excellent kitty friend to a cat already in the home. Our staff can help prepare adopters to welcome a spirit cat into a quiet home, but patience and understanding will go a long way with Snout Moth.
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Snout Moth. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Sadie is an adorable young guinea pig, who can be shy at first but once she has had time to warm up can be friendly and social. She came to us a transfer so we don’t have much history on her, but we expect that she will do best in a home with another female guinea pig that can serve as a companion.
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

This little cutie is Oliver. That face!! Oliver is a dog who loves saying hello to people. Maybe that is why he has such perfect leash walking skills – more opportunities to greet new friends. He is a mellow, easy going guy who has perfected lounging around the house. And, can you believe it, this dog loves cats! In fact, Oliver sometimes was sad when his humans left for adventures without him. However, once a cat was added to the family, he did much better. Although Oliver has never lived with another dog, all of his dog interactions have been excellent. And if children can practice petting consent, that could also possibly work. Even though Oliver is a senior dog, he still has a lot of pep to his step. Would you like to meet him?
If you think Oliver could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
Kermit is a bouncy and active guy who would make a great companion for someone who loves the great outdoors. His favorite things in life are sniffy walks, quality time with his favorite people, and above all, FOOD! This adorable man will look at you with those unique puppy dog eyes of his, and you’ll absolutely melt. Just beware – he will use his handsome face to bribe you for table scraps! We’re working on teaching him boundaries around food, which also means we don’t approach him when he’s eating. We want Kermit to know that he’s safe, and to learn that he can trust humans to feed him and let him eat in peace. This also helps build trust, which is important for Kermit as he can be worried around strangers. He may not want pets right away, but will make it clear when he’s ready (and he’s sooo soft!). In the meantime, he’ll benefit from a nice quiet spot in the home that’s all his own, where he can enjoy long-lasting chews undisturbed and snug with his favorite stuffies. While in our care Kermit has enjoyed hanging out with some other dogs, but he can be selective, so potential canine siblings should come meet him at the shelter before he goes home.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Kermit. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Meet Kingston a distinguished older gentleman with just the right amount of gray on his muzzle and a twinkle of mischief still in his eye. Do not let his age fool you Kingston may be a senior, but he has still got plenty of pep in his step and a love for life that shines through in every wag of his tail. He is currently brushing up on his manners and would thrive with a patient, experienced human who appreciates the charm of a seasoned companion. Kingston has a history of living with a ct, however he can be a bit particular about his canine company, so he`s best suited to a home where he can pick his friends wisely and at his own pace.
Albert is a friendly younger male guinea pig. He was reported to have fought with another GP before, and as such may prefer to live alone, but potentially can do okay with a well matched friend.

Meet Morticia! This gentle soul recently arrived in our care, and we are still getting to know her. Morticia was unfortauntely diagnosed with Regressive FeLV. Even though Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is an untreatable disease, cats with FeLV live happy and comfortable lives and make wonderful companions!
Regressive FeLV means the cat is producing a immune response, preventing the virus from replicating in the body. Cats with Regressive FeLV are less likely to be shedding the virus, however, they should either live as single cats or in groups with other FeLV positive cats, as their status may change and they may become infectious to other cats during their lifetime. Cats with Regressive FeLV may become ill with diseases related to the virus, but they may also go on to eliminate the virus completely.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Morticia. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Despite the uncanny resemblance, this isn’t a horned owl; it’s Minoes! Minoes is a sweet senior cat that prefers to keep her personal space to herself – though once she’s warmed up to her friends, she shows her love with gentle head bumps! She would do best in a calmer home without other cats. Minoes could live with a well-matched dog that gives her the time and space she needs to adjust!
Minoes has been overlooked due to her age – while kittens and young adults cats are often adopted quickly, many of our senior cats wait longer to find their perfect match. We think Minoes deserves the best retirement home, and adopting a senior can be extremely rewarding. She is extra grateful…and so are we!
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Minoes. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Roma is an adorable young buff tabby boy and is learning his true nature as snuggler. He and his siblings came to us pretty shy and undersocialized. They’ve really grown and become more trusting in their foster home, and Roma is now a bold and bright kitten keen on affection and adventure! His foster mom has even harness trained him for short walks in her yard, and he loves it. He’s really become the sweetest boy, and we know he will make some special adopters very happy.
Roma is loving the other cats in his foster home, and would do best with friendly felines in his adoptive home. He might feel overwhelmed in a busy or loud home, and so a quiet and predictable environment would suit him best. If you think you could be Roma’s perfect match, come on down to the Boston Adoption Center.
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Roma. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Introducing Kida! This very special girl has been waiting for her people for quite awhile. She is a sensitive husky mix who is fearful in new or busy environments and can be worried about meeting new people, but in a quiet, predictable home with adopters who are ready to meet her where she’s at and let her set the pace, we feel confident that her silly and playful side will quickly start to shine through! When Kida is more comfortable, she enjoys playing fetch and loves toys, and she also loves to romp and zoom around our yard space during quieter times of day! If you’re interested in learning more about Kida, stop by during open adoption hours!
